The operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who were present at the Federal High Court, Abuja where its leader, Nnamdi Kanu will be arraigned today.

The trial of Kanu is set to resume on Monday, at the Federal High Court in Abuja, four years after it was stalled due to his disappearance from the country.

The IPOB leader who had fled the country in 2017 was rearrested by the Federal Government and brought back to the country in June.

Kanu has since been remanded in the custody of the DSS as he has been re-arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako of the high court to continue with his trial bordering on terrorism, treasonable felony among other allegations.

Meanwhile, a large number of IPOB members stormed the high court in Abuja on Monday to declare support for their leader. Some of them had reportedly travelled from Southeast to witness the trial.

The IPOB members were chanting solidarity songs, demanding the freedom of their leader.

Many of the members were cladded in the green, yellow and red colours of the IPOB flag while others were cladded in Jewish attire.

However, the DSS operatives reportedly cracked down on individuals who declared support for Kanu on Monday, with many of them arrested.

Also, there is heavy presence of security operatives in the premises of the court as some members of the press present at the court were also denied entry on the ground that they were not accredited to cover the trial.
