Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has canceled this year’s June 12 Democracy Day celebrations in honour of those lives lost at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo.

Akeredolu, in a tweet posted on his verified Twitter handle @RotimiAkeredolu, on Saturday morning, said the cancellation is to allow the People of Ondo State mourn their loss.

The tweet reads; “In honour of the victims of the terror attack at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, the Ondo State Government has canceled this year’s June 12 celebration.

“The cancellation is to enable the people of Ondo State mourn their loved ones who lost their lives in the horrific attack,” Akeredolu tweeted on Saturday.

Recall worshippers were attacked during Sunday service by suspected terror groups.

The unidentified armed men stormed St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State and murdered several members of the congregation.
