Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has hailed the emergence of former governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as the new National Chairman of the party and the outcome of the APC convention held last weekend.

Emerhor, who described the convention as peaceful and successful, appealed to party faithful across the country to be patient with the new leadership as it has started working in earnest to resolve little skirmishes recorded from the recently concluded wards, councils and states congresses.

In a statement personally signed by him, the 2015 governorship candidate of the APC in Delta noted that Oshiomhole would unite and build on the achievements recorded under the Chief Odigie-Oyegun-led former NWC.

He stated that the peaceful transition of power between the duo had put soothsayers who had predicted that the party would be torn apart during the convention to shame, adding that there is no alternative to the APC in 2019.

Emerhor also commended President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the party for their tenacity in ensuring a level playing field for all the chieftains of the party during and after the congresses which preceded the National Convention.

According to him, “Let me on behalf of my family and political associates warmly congratulate the new National Chairman of our great party – the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) for their victory at our party’s convention held during the weekend.

“Oshiomhole’s antecedents as a renowned and respected former union leader in the country and governor of Edo State speak volume of what to expect from his leadership as the leader of our party. I’m convinced that he will lead us to victory in 2019. I urge everyone to give him and other members of NWC the necessary support to deepen the achievements recorded under the immediate past chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.

“I’m also sure that the new leadership will resolve all grievances in the interest of strengthening the party ahead of the 2019 general elections. There is need for everyone to unite in the common interest of the party. We in Delta State APC will continue to support the new leadership to achieve its mandate.

“I’m undoubtedly sure that the new team headed by the former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole will strengthen the party to enable it deliver on its electioneering campaign promises to Nigerians who rightly chose the APC ahead of the PDP who almost rocked the country.”
The APC chieftain also congratulated the immediate past National Chairman of the party, Chief Odigie-Oyegun, for a successful tenure which led to an opposition party unseating the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2015 general election, a feat he said is unprecedented in the history of Nigeria democracy.

Emerhor, however, assured Nigerians that the President Muhammadu Buhari policies have started yielding bountiful fruits towards putting the country on the path socio-economy and infrastructural development.
