The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the executives of the popular cryptocurrency platform, Binance Holdings before the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The New Diplomat reports that Tigran Gambaryan, Binance’s Head of Financial Crime Compliance, arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja for arraignment over allegations of tax evasion.

Wearing a black T-shirt and green pants, Gambaryan was brought into the court at about 9:19 am by officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC

He and fugitive Nadeem Anjarwalla are joined as defendants in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CR/115/2024. In the suit, Binance was accused of failing to register with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), in a bid to evade all relevant taxes administered by the service.

The New Diplomat reports that Gambaryan and Anjarwalla were arrested and detained by the Nigerian authorities on February 28.

However, Anjarwalla escaped from the custody of the Office of the National Security Adviser.
