The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday, played host to delegation from the Monarch of Uvwie Kingdom during which he reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to addressing issues directly affecting Deltans.
The Speaker, while receiving the delegation of the monarch, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I, in his office in Asaba, commended traditional institution for its role in maintaining traditional values and peace in the state.
He commended the Uvwie Traditional Council of Chiefs and promised to reciprocate the visit to the monarch, expressing gratitude to the monarch for his blessings and advice.
Earlier, Former Commissioner for Justice, High Chief Victor Otomiewo, who spoke on behalf of the delegation said the visit was a mission of grace to formerly felicitate with Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and to thank God for elevating him to the position of Speaker of the State House of Assembly.
According to him, the Ovie of Uvwie, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I, sent the delegation with prayers that God should give the Speaker wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state. High Chief Otomiewo advised the Speaker to key into justice first as a catalyst for spurring peace. The delegation was led by High Chief Hope Akasa, the Unuevworo of Alegbo.
Among honourable members who hosted the monarch’s delegation alongside the Speaker were the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Tim Owhefere, Chief Whip, Hon. Pat Ajudua, Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Preyor Oboro, Majority Whip, Hon. Eric Oharisi, Hon. Efe Ofoburuku, Hon. Evance Ivwurie, Hon. Shola Daibo, Hon. Reuben Izeze among others.
