The task of rescuing Delta State from the stranglehold of the PDP in the 2023 by the APC has been simplified with the re-instatement of Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as governorship candudate of the ruling party by the Court of Appeal.
The Director, Communications and Media Strategy of the APC Campaign Organisation, Ima Niboro, stated this while felicitating with Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori whose guber candidacy of the PDP was re-instated by the Court of Appeal, Abuja on Monday August 29, 2022.
According to Niboro, the APC welcomes the victory of Oborevwori as PDP governorship flagbearer in the State, adding that he is the weakest link in the 2023 governorship race as he poses little or no opposition or threat to the APC’s overtaking force in rescuing Delta State from the vice grip of the ruling party.
It would be recalled that Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori who is the current Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, emerged as the PDP governorship flag-bearer in the party’s primary in May.
He was however dragged to court by the second runner up in the primary, Mr. David Edevbie, who got judgment from Justice Taiwo Taiwo in a Federal High Court Abuja which nullified the candidacy of Oborevwori on grounds of certificate forgery and perjury and ordered the party to submit Edevbie’s name to INEC as the eligible governorship candidate of the PDP.
Not satisfied with the judgment of the Federal High Court, Oborevwori went on appeal and the Court of Appeal, Abuja, in its judgment on Monday reversed the decision of Justice Taiwo Taiwo and re-instated the Speaker as the duly elected governorship candidate of the PDP in the State.
However, reacting to the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Ima Niboro stated that the APC welcomed the development as good news, but however expressed optimism that with Oborevwori as the PDP governorship flag-bearer, the task of rooting out the ruling party from government house in 2023 has been made a lot easier for the Senator Omo-Agege/Osanebi APC governorship team.
Niboro described Oborevwori as not only a weakling, but a highly compromised candidate who will find have difficulty in explaining to Deltans why they should vote for him and his fellow travellers to afford them another opportunity to mortgage the future of the state with more humongous loans and mountaneous debt for generation unborn.
The former presidential spokesman charged Deltans to resist Oborevwori, PDP and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa with their ballots, insisting that the PDP Governorship candidate who could not run a House of Assembly, definitely cannot govern a complex state like Delta.
“Oborevwori’s victory at the Appeal court in the certificate fraud case against him by David Edevbie is good news. Oborevwori is the obvious weak link in the 2023 guber race.
“What more can you ask for when you have a Sheriff whose only claim to fame is a specious “street credibility,“ in a state gripped by a selfsame street anomie, a soaring crime wave, unemployment, greed and wickedness.
“What more can you ask for when Delta youths, already seething with anger, have been presented Okowa, the loan master’s main acolyte; his partner in mindless borrowing; his cheerleader in general misplacement of priorities, ineptitude, cluelessness and brinkmanship?
“Deltans do not want the continuation of a government that has pauperized and inflicted untold hardship on them; neither do they want a Sheriff coming to town just to ride roughshod over them: a Sheriff who foreshadows a coming lawlessness, dictatorship and lack of accountability”, he said.
While urging Deltans to work in synergy with APC to rid and rescue the State from the vice-grip of the PDP, Niboro stressed that with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the APC’s Operation Rescue Delta Commander, the PDP is on its way out of the State.
“APC’s Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is leading the charge to chase out the locusts and cankerworm in human form feasting on our commonwealth at the expense of millions of our dehumanized and dispossessed people”, he concluded.
