• Solicits Support From Delegates

Chief Ede Dafinone, a front-line All-Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Delta Central Senatorial seat for 2023 has disclosed that representation at the Senatorial level in the National Assembly is a very serious business, which is suited only for those with the requisite knowledge, experience, capacity, competence, and connected personalities, but not for breast-suckling babes.

Dafinone who stated this while addressing party delegates during his consultation visit to Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Local Government Areas yesterday, also declared that he has what it takes to offer good representation to the Urhobo people of Delta Central at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly.

It would be recalled that on Saturday, April 29, 2022, at Ughelli, the World Guinness Book-recognised chartered accountant and astute administrator, declared his interest to contest for the Senatorial seat of Delta Central in 2023. He has since then kicked off consultation visits to prospective delegates across the right Local Government Areas of Delta Central Senatorial District.

Addressing delegates at Ughelli yesterday, Dafinone stressed the requisite qualifications for a good and effective representation at the upper chamber, adding that the Senate is not for jokers nor for unprepared, inexperienced, and shabbily educated fellows.

He recalled that the fifteen years of Senatorial representation offered by the PDP only left the Urhobos poorer, more miserable, and devastated, adding that it was not until the past 7 years when APC brought in a redeemer in the person of Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Obarisi of Urhobo land, who has been providing leadership and effective representation to the Urhobo people.

“When PDP came to power in 1999, they had just one mission, and that is to empower themselves, but they failed to empower Deltans, a situation that has left many of our people in a state of abject poverty”, Ede reminded the delegates at Ughelli.

While addressing delegates from Ughelli South, Ede, noted that the business of the senate is not for babies but for those with the requisite experience, knowledge, and capacity, adding that he possesses all the qualities.

He said that it will profit the Urhobo nation if he is voted to represent the people in the 10th Senate, adding that he has the capacity to up the game.

“Omo-Agege is leaving a big shoe that needs an experienced person with the requisite qualification, connection, and experience to fill so that he can consolidate on the massive achievements of the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege”, he stressed.

Responding at Ughelli, the party chairman in the LGA, Hon. Obakpororo Onabeje, recalled the outstanding contributions of the late Senator David Dafinone to the growth and development of Urhobo land, adding that Ede has inherited the spirit to develop Delta Central from his father.

He pledged the support of delegates from Ughelli North for the Senatorial aspirant, assuring Dafinone that they will do everything possible to go to Abuja to represent Urhobo.

“The vacuum that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege is about to leave is a very big one and we want somebody who is this competent, with this sound qualifications to represent us.

“On behalf of Ughelli North, we will give you the required support to go to Abuja to represent us”, Onabeje said.

In Udu, the party chairman, Hon David Orherhiobore, while responding to Chief Ede Dafinone’s speech, revealed that the Dafinone family is an awesome family, adding that what Urhobo needs is an experienced person to provide effective representation, pledging the support of the Udu delegates.

“We need people who will intimidate the public with their CV, as far as we are concerned you are already in the Senate. We give you our full support”, he said.

At Ughelli South, the party chairman, Chief Sir Isaiah Kekeje, APC Chairman, assured that delegates from the area will support him, noting that he (Dafinone) is one of the best eleven with an intimidating profile and wide tentacles that cut across Africa and the World
