History was made on Wednesday when Kogi State finally joined the ranks of states with recorded COVID 19 cases and Nigeria recorded its highest daily toll ever.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) while releasing the daily update via its official handle on Twitter disclosed that the country recorded a whopping 389 cases while Kogi also recorded its first two cases.
This takes the country’s total infections to 8,733 out of which 2,501 have been discharged with 254 losing their lives.

Data from the NCDC showed that the cases were spread across 22 states and with Lagos accounting for the highest number of infections for the day with 256 cases.
Katsina recorded 23 cases, Edo 22, Rivers 14, Kano 13, Adamawa, and A’Ibom 11 cases each.
Others are Kaduna 7, Kwara 6, Nasarawa 6 cases, Gombe, Plateau, Abia, Delta, Benue, Niger, Kogi, and Oyo recorded 2 cases each while Imo, Borno, Ogun, and Anambra all recorded 1 case each.
Recall that Olorunnimbe Mamora, Minister of State for Health while speaking at the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 briefing had expressed worries over the increase in the number of cases recorded while lamenting a significant number of states did not have the required number of bed spaces.
