The house of Yoruba Nation Agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho was attacked in the early hours of Thursday.
The attacked which reportedly occurred around 1:00am came less than three days to the Yoruba Nation rally in Lagos planned by Igboho and co-agitators. The mega rally was scheduled to hold on July 3, 2021, to futher push the envelope in respect of the secessionist agitation geared towards pulling the Southwest region out of Nigeria.
According to Igboho’s spokesman, Mr Olayomi Koiki, the residence of the Yoruba agitator located in the Soka area of Ibadan was attacked by soldiers.
In a Facebook live chat, Koiki said: “I can confirm that those who came are definitely Nigerian soldiers. There are more than 100 soldiers that came.”
“The situation is very active as more security operatives in about seven Nigerian Army patrol vans have arrived,” he said. He however noted that “He (Igboho) is currently safe.”
It was reported that Igboho’s close ally, simply identified as ‘Lady K’ was whisked away alongside some occupants of the building.
As seen in images from the attack uploaded online, blood stains were on the floor inside and outside of the building, even as the building walls and cars were riddled with bullets.
Igboho’s exotic vehicles and some valuable properties were also reportedly destroyed.
The New Diplomat reports this is not the first attack on Igboho’s Soka residence as it would be recalled that the building was raided on January 26, 2021, by some unidentified hoodlums, with the house gutted. Also, Igboho has been targeted at multiple times since January 2021, following his dare-devil quit notice to the killer herdsmen in Ibarapa, Oyo State over their reported atrocities in that agrarian community.
As of the time of this reporting, the Oyo State Police Command was yet to react to the attack.
