Maina was arrested on Monday by operatives in Niger in collaboration with Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) following a mutual security agreement between the two countries.
Briefing reporters, the Commissioner of Police in charge of Interpol in Nigeria informed that Maina was brought back to Nigeria on the directive of the IGP, Mohammed Adamu.
Maina who is being tried for money laundering charges had gotten his bail revoked on November 18, 2020 and a bench warrant issued for his arrest.
Maina is being prosecuted by the EFCC on 12 counts of money laundering, involving N2bn.
EFCC alleged that Maina used the account of the firm for money laundering to the tune of about N2 billion, part of which he used to acquire landed properties in Abuja.
Maina had earlier spent over seven months at the Kuje Correctional Center before the court released him on bail on July 24, this year, after Senater Ali Ndume agreed to stand surety for him.
