A former Nigerian Senator, Patrick Osakwe has passed away at the age of 73 years.

Osakwe who represented Delta North Senatorial District of Delta state passed away at a London hospital while receiving medical care.

A statement issued by a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, confirmed the demise of the senator.

Success who made this known on his verified Facebook page disclosed that Osakwe gave up the ghost in the late hours of Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

“Senator Osakwe died in a London hospital this evening (15th March, 202 at the age of 73.

“Patrick Enebeli Osakwe was a Nigerian senator who represented Delta North Senatorial District in Delta State. He became a member of the Nigerian Senate in 1999, and was re-elected in 2003 and 2007,” the terse statement reads.

Born on 11 August 1948, Osakwe hailed from Ugili-Amai in Ndokwa-west Local Government Area of Delta State Nigeria. He obtained a B.Sc, M.Sc, LLB and BL from University of Benin.

Osakwe was elected to the Senate for the first time in 1999 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In 2003, he was re-elected under the platform of the PDP, however, in 2007 he contested and won Senatorial seat under the platform of the Accord party.
