The United States of America has made true its threat to join the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran by attacking the latter.

This is as President Donald Trump announced, early Sunday, that United States forces had struck three Iranian nuclear sites in what he described as “very successful attack”, adding that the heavily fortified Fordow nuclear facility is “gone”.

The Fordow nuclear facility is believed to be the most difficult and prized target

Trump’s decision to take sides with Israel in its military campaign against Iran has the tendency of escalating the week-long hostilities between the two countries in the Middle East.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan,” Trump posted on Truth Social, adding that the military planes were now on their way home.

The US reportedly used heavy bunker-busting bombs dropped from B-2 strategic stealth bombers and Tomahawk cruise missiles.

The military action was later confirmed in a televised Oval Office address that lasted just more than three minutes,

Speaking in the video, Trump said that Iran’s future held “either peace or tragedy”, and threatening to deploy US military to attack many other targets in Iran.

“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” Trump said in the video.

“NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!” he added.

The US attack on Iran came despite pleadings from many international organizations including the United Nations that both warring nations should sheathe their swords and “give peace a chance”.

The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Gutteres on Friday warned that the conflict could “spiral out of control” if not ended at its current stage.
Gutteres also said he was “gravely alarmed” by the “dangerous escalation” of the US strikes.

Recall that Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also warned on Saturday against US intervention in the conflict, saying his country “will not allow the Middle East borders to be redrawn ‘in blood’”.
