Former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Namadi Sambo arrived in Osun State on Friday, May 23, 2025, to attend the grand coronation of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, Ajimoko III, as the 41st Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland.

The coronation currently holding at Obokungbusi Hall in Ilesa drew the presence of other prominent dignitaries, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Meanwhile, before the ceremony, Atiku and Sambo paid a courtesy visit on former Osun State Governor and former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola at his residence.

Joining Aregbesola to receive the duo were prominent Osun political figures, including former APC Chairman in Osun State, Lowo Adebiyi, and Chairman of Omoluabi Progressives, Alhaji Azeez Adesiji.

Others include the former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti, and former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Najeem Salaam, highlighting the strong presence of the Aregbesola political camp at the gathering.

Atiku took to his official X handle to confirm the visit.

He wrote, “Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola.”

While further details of the visit remain sketchy, it comes amid ongoing discussion of a potential coalition to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Atiky has been meeting with high-profile politicians across the country over the coalition talks.
