  • Appoints Usman as New NAHCON Chairman

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, sacked Jalal Arabi, a permanent secretary of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON) who was allegedly involved in the mismanagement of the sum of N90 billion advanced to Hajj as subsidy.

The President in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, noted that Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman will replace Arabi, who is facing The Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) probes for alleged mismanagement of Hajj funds along with the commission’s secretary, Abdullahi Kontagora.

According to Ngelale, the appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

According to Ngelale, Tinubu’s expects that the new NAHCON Chairman will execute his duties with integrity, transparency, and a strong commitment to the nation’s interests.
