The board of trustees, management and entire members of the Abia League of Professional Initiative (ALPI), have extolled the virtues of Chief Lady Adanma Enyidiya Okpara, wife of late sage and former Premier of Eastern Region of Nigeria, Dr Michael. I Okpara (M.I Power), as preparations are in top gear for her final journey home.
Chief Lady Adanma, matriach of the Okpara’s family had died in August at the full age of 99 years. Her burial has been fixed for 18th December, 2021 at Umuegwu Okpuala Afugiri in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State. This was according to a letter signed by Chief Uzodinma Okpara, the son of the late former Premier, inviting the leadership of the Abia State House of Assembly to the funeral ceremony.
Celebrating the life and times of Adanma, ALPI in a condolence letter to the Okpara’s family said it is a difficult task to catalogue the achievements of Dr Okpara, as a father, leader, politician and a professional medical doctor, without mentioning the role played by his dear wife and confidant, Adanma.
The group in the statement signed by Mr Sonny Iroche, Convener/National Coordinator of ALPI reminded many that late Adanma was a great teacher and educationist, who was one of the pioneers of the establishment of private education in Nigeria in the 1960s and a great community leader.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
“We wish to thank God Almighty for longevity of a good and fulfilled life. The glorious exit of your wife, mother and grandmother, is worthy of celebrations and thanksgiving.
“For she was at such an early age, impactful in the life and family of a great leader, Dr Okpara, where she provided a conducive home of love and peace, which was the bedrock of support for the great successes of the Dr Okpara.
“Fare Thee well, our dearest beloved Mma and Rest In Peace in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, whom you loved so dearly and served all through your life. You have fought a good fight and now, you belong to Heaven.” The statement concluded.
