The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has sanctioned three broadcast stations over claims that they aired unverified images of the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Tollgate.

The regulatory body for broadcast stations in Nigeria fined Arise TV, African Independent Television (AIT) and Channels Television between N2million and N3million.

The stations were accused of airing unverified images of the Lekki shooting which incited violence and led to destruction of lives and properties across the nation.

Recall that #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Tollgate plaza, last Tuesday were alleged to have been shot and killed by men in military uniform suspected to be soldiers following a curfew imposed in Lagos State.

The alleged shooting and killings of peaceful protesters in Lagos generated public outcry, condemnation and anguish as some hoodlums went on rampage destroying government and private properties in many states.

Hoodlums also looted shopping malls and stores, setting Police Stations ablaze in Lagos.
