*Says Development  Is Permanent, While Handouts Are Ephemeral

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has explained to Deltans, especially the people of Delta Central Senatorial zone, that he is strongly committed to attracting and bringing development that would positively lift the living conditions of constituents.

Senator(Obarisi) Omo-Agege, who also doubles as chairman of the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999  Constitution told his constituents that he is strongly interested in bringing real development to them and not some gestures of tokenism or handouts which are both momentary and short-lived in nature .

Omo-Agege, who represents Delta Central at the Senate spoke at Imodje-Orogun, Ughelli-North Local Government Area of Delta State where the All Progressives Congress political family held a family event  in his honour.

The gathering which was originally billed to be a quiet political family affair saw various groups coming out to identify with the Deputy Senate President.

While using the opportunity of the occasion to thank the people for their  continued support for  him and the APC, urged them to continue to support the government of president Muhammadu Buhari.

Omo-Agege who reiterated that his emergence as the Deputy Senate President was the handiwork of God tasked the people to continue to support him in prayers, stressing that his vision is to see an Urhobo nation where youths are gainfully employed in one form of legitimate business or the other.

He explained: “Don’t force me to make a choice between development and giving you handouts. Handouts don’t mean anything but at the end of the day, what matters is the legacy.

“By the grace of God today, I am the Deputy Senate President; I don’t know what would become of me by 2023 but by 2023, I should be able to look back and say this is what I’ve done for my people.

“I will do what is right; I know what is right because I am not an expatriate. I am one of you, I came from you and I know your pains.”

Obasiri Omo-Agege told the people that  the 2021 Budget has several inputs that will address certain developmental gaps across the Senatorial District.

He also used the occasion to assure the Orogun people of more dividends of democracy in the coming months. Earlier, some leaders of the Party, APC, in Orogun Ward 1 and Ward 2 expressed appreciation to  the Deputy Senate President  for bringing Orogun to spectacular  national fame through what they described as  his superb and outstanding representation at the National Assembly.

The constituents while thanking him for his exceptional service, also requested  for more projects and job opportunities for the teeming youths. Several Party leaders present at the gathering include Chief Emmanuel Ogobene, Barr. Anuku Meshach, Chief Jones Esombi, amongst others.

Meanwhile, Omo-Agege  earlier also attended the funeral rites of Pastor Mrs Victoria  Avwomakpa, wife of Archbishop Goddowell Avwomakpa which took place in Oginibo, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Deputy Senate President was accompanied by  Hon. Francis Waive, the member representing  Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The late Mrs Avwomakpa whose untimely death occurred in June this year at the age of   68 was a well respected woman of God and a highly regarded community leader.
