Abike Dabiri-Erewa Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has reiterated that the law must take its full course on the Dubai-based Nigerian internet celebrity, Ray Hushpuppi who was recently arrested in Dubai on a fraud related matter.

The NiDCOM chairman in a post shared on her verified Twitter page on Friday, June 19, noted that he must be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Hushpuppi

According to Dabiri-Erewa, fraudsters like Hushpuppi are responsible for ruining the image of Nigerians who work multiple jobs abroad.

“While many Nigs abroad are working 3..4 jobs to make ends meet fraudsters like Ramoni Igbalode are spoiling their image .The law must take its full course,” her tweet read.

One follower who criticized Hushpuppi while reacting to her post said: “The disgusting part of it all is 1. The dude flaunted the ill gotten proceeds at the expense of the victims. 2. Average Nigerian youths wants to be like him consequently involving in yahoo. 3. The dude had no respect for human dignity in his talk on social media etc.”

In a different post that was shared by Dabiri-Erewa on Thursday, June, 18, she stressed the fact that Hushpuppi’s case cannot be used as a yardstick to judge Nigerians who are doing very well for themselves abroad.

A senior prosecutor confirmed his arrest along with 12 other accomplices. The police also disclosed that the Dubai-based Nigeria has been charged for fraudulently obtaining money from unsuspecting victims.
