Chaos erupted in Benue State again as enraged youths from Yelwata barricaded the major highway, laying the corpses of slain loved ones on the road.
The New Diplomat gathered that the protest came after a deadly attack by suspected armed men.
The aggrieved youth said the attack has plunged the region into panic, lamenting that they are unsafe.
According to them, the armed men fired indiscriminately, forcing residents to flee for safety.
It was also gathered that the blockade disrupted travel between northern and southern Nigeria, leaving commuters stranded and sparking widespread panic.
An eyewitness told The New Diplomat that “no one is passing and military helicopters are hovering all over and soldiers and police are all over and the protesters are saying that the soldiers must vacate the place before they open the road for not helping them deal with the killers.
“They are also saying the Governor must come and address them.”
