Veteran international journalist, lawyer and first class Scholar, Reuben Abati, has lambasted the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over a recent thanksgiving church service by the latter to celebrate the completion of 16 infrastructure projects in Abuja.

Abati, who earned a first class degree from the University of Calabar in 1985 with the best result in his set and proceeded further with his academic exploits to earn a PhD in Dramatic Literature and Criticism from the University of Ibadan in record time at the ground breaking age of 24 spoke during The Morning Show on Arise News, on Monday.

Abati described Wike’s recent outburst at St. James’s Anglican Church, Asokoro, as a political grandstanding, reckless vituperation, and desecration of God’s Sanctuary.

The eminent journalist who threw a jab at the Minister said: “Wike went to a church to go and masturbate.”

The New Diplomat reports that the Thanksgiving service, held on July 6, 2025, was a public celebration of Wike’s achievements, including a 19-day project inauguration exercise marking President Bola Tinubu’s second anniversary in office.

Attended by Wike’s allies, including former governors Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the event highlighted projects that have transformed Abuja’s landscape.
