A former Senator from Kaduna State, Senator Shehu Sani, has expressed reservation about the rift settlement facilitated by President Bola Tinubu between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and the suspended Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Sani, who maintained that the development is good news, stressed that the battle may not yet be over.

The former lawmaker claimed that the loyalists and foot soldiers of Fubara who supported and fought for him in the heat of the crisis won’t be happy about the peaceful resolution.

He, however, advised both camps to sustain the peace accord brokered by Tinubu in the interest of Rivers State.

Sani said this in a post made on his official X handle on Friday.

He said: “The reconciliation efforts in Rivers is good news. Peace needs to return to the state and Fubara needs to return to his seat as soon as possible. I know that those who fought for Fubara are not happy and wants him to continue fighting. Fubara is Sim and not Comrade Sowore. The battle may not be over but let peace return to Rivers for now.”

Sani’s statement was made in the wake of the intervention of Tinubu in the rift between Fubara and Wike which led to the amicable resolution of the protracted Rivers State crisis.

The intervention, by extension, also ended the friction between Fubara and the pro-Wike lawmakers in the State House of Assembly led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule
