The Men’s national team of Nigeria, the Super Eagles has experienced a sharp drop, marking the largest drop among national teams.
This was revealed in the latest FIFA rankings, published on Thursday.
In the November rankings, the Super Eagles, a three-time African champion, fell from the 36th position to the 44th position globally, reflecting an 8-place decrease.
The team’s total points have also decreased, from 1503 to 1482.23.
In Africa, the Super Eagles are now ranked the 5th best country’s national team in the continent.
Nigeria is trailing behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Algeria.
The drop comes after the Super Eagles suffered a shocking defeat of 1-2 against Rwanda on home ground in Uyo, Akwa Ibom and managed only a 1-1 draw against the Benin Republic in the most recent phase of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifiers.
In the global context, Argentina retains the top position, followed closely by France in second and Spain in third. England and Brazil occupy the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
