President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu have departed Nigeria for France.

The New Diplomat reports that the President is embarking on a state visit to France at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, H.E. Brigitte Macron.

A press statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga indicated that Tinubu is expected to be welcomed at the historic 350-year-old French military museum, Les Invalides, and the Palais de l’Élysée by the Macrons for a series of ceremonial events, which will lead into bilateral discussions.

Tinubu’s departure comes after Vice President Kashim Shettima similarly jetted out of Nigeria for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

The Vice President left the country in the early hours of Wednesday to attend the opening ceremony of the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE) 2024 conference.

This was confirmed in a press statement issued by the Senior Special to The President on Media & Communications (Office of The Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the vice president is expected to return to Nigeria later today after the conference.
