George Akume Holds Meeting With Wike, Wale Edun, Umahi, Others Over Planned Protest

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, is currently holding a closed-door meeting with cabinet members of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The meeting is coming amid the proposed nationwide protest scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024.

It was gathered that the meeting is well attended by over 40 ministers in the President’s cabinet.

Some of the Ministers that have been spotted at the meeting are Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Special Duties, Zephaniah Jisalo; Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman; and Minister of Budget and Planning, Abubakar Bagudu.

Others include Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris; Minister of Defence Bello Matawalle; Minister of Works, David Umahi; and the National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu, amongst others.

It would be recalled that the proposed nationwide protests have been gaining traction on social media.

It is scheduled to be held across all states of the Federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in August.

The protest is said to be against the economic hardship and the prices of food and basic commodities which have gone through the roof in the last months.
