By Abiola Olawale Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has described the recent military coup in Guinea-Bissau, which halted a nearly completed electoral process, as a deeper personal blow than his own 2015 presidential election defeat. In a statement following his evacuation from the West African nation where he was serving as an election observer, Jonathan…

The campaigns were on issues.

Nigerians of ethnic nationalities campaigned freely.

Nobody told them to ‘go back to Nigeria and vote’.

They voted freely. No police. No army. No thugs.

Election materials didn’t get snatched or arrived late.

The BVAS wasn’t needed not to talk about failing.

No public holidays. No restriction of movements. No peace accords were signed.

Even though we have a sizeable Yoruba population in Britain, the candidates didn’t come to MUSON centre or Yar’Adua center to address the voters.

It was quick. It was fast.

The change of government was fast.

New ministers were picked fast.

The new government is in place and working.

Nobody set up a transition committee.

Nobody needed to go to court to challenge the results of the election.

I know you’d say it had happened in America before between Albert “Al” Gore, Jnr and George W. Bush.

But it was Britain that colonised us.

We started with their parliamentary system of government.

We messed that up and opted for an American system of democracy that is simply a civilian government and not a democracy.

So, let’s focus on Britain.

Their own ASO Rock is Number 10 Downing Street.

The old Prime Minister has packed his bags and left.

The new Prime Minister has moved in and started work.

No need to budget billions of GBP to renovate the office.

No need to buy new furniture and new official vehicles.

Everything happened so fast and the country is up and running.

This clearly shows that we are inferior to these people in our conduct and in our actions and attitudes.

Apart from conducting elections, tell me one other thing we do well.

Is it driving the cars they built for us? Is it using the money they mint for us?

Is it talking on the phone they manufactured for us? Is it using the toilets they built for us?

Just name one thing we can say we do better than them.

Even the religion they introduced to us, we have turned it into a joke, lying and using God’s name in vain; deceiving and cheating people.

We pursue them and export religion to them; the same religion that helped them develope and sustain civilisation.

We go there and collect hard currency and come back here to continue waiting for end time.

I have said it many times, and I repeat, the blacK man is incapable of sustaining civilisation.

The only way we can do it is to ask the oyibo people to lead while we follow.

Otherwise, we wlll continue to invite them as observers to our heavily funded and rigged elections while we loot our country dry once we get into office.

Please don’t tell me ‘we will get there with time’.

We won’t. Not in my life time. Not after 63 years and we are still not able to conduct one free and fair election and conclude it.

Everybody is congratulating the new Prime Minister.

We don’t even have shame.

Imagine!
