Nigerians have begun to react as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lost his steps and stumbled as he was entering a truck en route to a parade at Eagle Square to commemorate Democracy Day, on Wednesday.

Tinubu, attired in a white traditional agbada outfit and his distinctive cap, attempted to steady himself by clutching the vehicle but was unsuccessful, resulting in his fall to the ground. His aides promptly came to his assistance and helped him to stand upright.

The parade later continued as the president waved to the crowd while the vehicle slowly made its way through.

Confirming the incident, the Special Assistant on Social Media to the President, Segun Dada, acknowledged that despite the momentary slip, Tinubu promptly regained his balance and proceeded with the event.

He said, “Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep. He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds. No issues.”
