In response to the tragic attack at Crocus City Hall in Moscow, the Russian capital on Friday, the Federal Government of Nigeria has extended its heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of the Russian Federation.

The attack, which claimed a reported number of 60 individuals and wounded 145 others, has prompted expressions of sympathy and solidarity from Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Saturday by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Yusuf Tuggar, the government expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries resulting from the attack.

Tuggar stated: “We convey our deepest condolences to the people and Government of the Russian Federation on the tragic attack carried out at the Crocus Concert Hall in Moscow that resulted in the death of innocent people and injuries to more than a hundred others.

“The Government and people of Nigeria commiserate with the victims of this tragic attack and pray for the repose of their souls.”

Additionally, prayers were offered for the swift recovery of those who were injured in the incident.

Mr. Tuggar assured the Russian Federation that, Nigeria stands with them unity, solidarity and brotherhood.

Also, the Nigerian government conveyed its deepest sympathy and condolences to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the shared sorrow and grief felt over the senseless violence that occurred at the concert hall.

“We also pray for the quick recovery of those injured.

“At this challenging time, we stand in brotherhood with the government and Russian Federation and send our deepest sympathy and condolences to the Russian president, His Excellency Vladimir Putin,” he added.

It would be recalled on Friday, gunmen dressed in camouflage attire unleashed a barrage of gunfire from automatic weapons at attendees of a concert near Moscow.

The attack was reportedly linked to the Islamic State, the militant group that previously aimed to seize control of large territories in Iraq and Syria.
