The Immediate-past Deputy President of the Nigerian 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has expressed his heartfelt condolence to the Edozien family and the people of Asaba over the death of the 13th Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien.

The Senator who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Delta State in the 2023 governorship elections said: “I have been informed of the transition of His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien, CFR, JP, the Asagba of Asaba.

“On behalf of our good people and my family, I express my heartfelt condolences to the great Edozien Family and all our dear people of Asaba and the Anioma Nation.

“The Asagba’s transition has undoubtedly left a huge void not only in our beloved Delta State which he committed decades of his blessed and wonderful life in unblemished service as the Asagba of Asaba, but also to Nigeria and humanity in general.

“The Asagba of Asaba was in a class of his own. He was highly respected and admired for his deep insights, wisdom, and intellectual sophistication. He handled complex leadership issues masterfully and with uncommon regard for his subjects and others alike. He was a very knowledgeable, wise and great king. A loving father of all.

“May Almighty God grant His Royal Majesty eternal rest in his bosom.”
