Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC reportedly absconded after an unusual sacrificial ritual pot was placed on the spot of the polling unit a night before the election day.

The ritual pot which was deposited less than a kilometre away from Agungi Central Mosque the exact spot reserved for the polling unit.

Voters in Eti-Osa who turned out in their numbers to cast their votes for the governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections were perplexed but not scared when they saw the unusual ritual sacrifice found at the spot reserved for the polling unit.

The voters who were adamant, refused to leave the spot on the ground that INEC officials would eventually returned to conduct the election.

“We woke up this morning to find this strange sacrifice here, and the INEC officials may have absconded with the voting materials for fear of this ritual sacrifice placed here.

“Let the INEC officials come back They cannot disenfranchise residents of this community because of “juju.” We are above this ritual,” said Kehinde one of the stranded Eti-Osa voters.

“We are staying here until the INEC officials resume in the polling unit to enable us to cast our vote, says Dorcas, another resident of the community .

The New Diplomat gathered that residents of the area who are mostly sympathetic to a political party were earlier warned of the dire consequences of coming out to vote against the ruling APC in the election.
