Oro festival in Lekki, Lagos Island and Ikorodu axises.
Speculations were rife that the near absence of police officers in polling units during the presidential election was hinged on the none payment of their allowances but the Force Public Relations Officer, PRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has assured that officers deployed for today’s election will be duly paid their allowances.
He said that erring officers would be prosecuted accordingly, adding that all necessary arrangements have been made to pay their allowances.
The force command spokesman disclosed that volatile areas that are reportedly prone to violence would be taken care of.
He enjoined voters not to panic while discharging their civic obligations as citizens of Nigeria.
In this regard, Adejobi dismissed threat to Igbo voters in Lagos by the park management committee chairman, Musiliuim Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo.
The Force PRO said the election is secret ballot as nobody will know who you cast your vote for except if the voter decides otherwise.
Adejobi disclosed that MC Oluomo has since denied ever making such threat to Igbo voters in Lagos not to exercise their civic right except if they must vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC.
” MC Oluomo has done another viral video with the mama Chinedu in it, claiming that it was all a joke,” he said.
On the Oro festival earlier planned in Lagos, the Force PRO described as insensitive for any traditional ruler to embark on such cultural enterprise at election period.
He, however, disclosed that the Oro would not affect today’s election as it ended yesterday according to the time table of the traditional ruler
Though, he said that special attention would be given to such areas as Lekki, Lagos Island and Ikorodu axises where the Oro would be celebrated incase of any spill over of the celebration.
