The nation was thrown into mourning following the passage of Nigeria’s first female Senator, Franca Afegbua.

A release from the family which disclosed the demise of the female politician, said that Franca Afegbua died this morning, Sunday, 12 March, 2023.

The release reads: “The Afegbua family of Edo State has confirmed the demise of the first woman Senator in Nigeria, Senator Franca Afegbua whose sad event occurred this morning, Sunday, March 12, 2023.”

The family stated that details of the burial arrangement would be announced in no distant time.

It would be recalled that Afegbua who was elected as the first female Senator representing the then Bendel North in October 1983 under defunct National Party Of Nigeria, (NPN), inched name in the history book of Africa.

For most Nigerians, she was an epitome of beauty and brain.
