The youth leader, (Okaeghele) of Uselu N’Ahor in Uhunmwonde Local Government of Edo State, Mr Mike Enotiemwonmwan has denied ordering the recent killing of three persons over the tussle for the collection of trailer park fees.
Enotiemwonmwan who spoke with journalists in Benin condemned the fatal shooting and called on the police to unmask the perpetrators of the attack
Going by reports in some media, the youth leader was accused of ordering the killing.
He recalled that during the same period in 2021, he and his brother were assaulted by gunmen right at the same spot, where the latest killing took place, an action which left his brother dead.
He wailed that he has not fully recovered from the attack as he is still nursing the injuries he sustained from bullet wounds.
He added: “I am not happy over these killings that took place at Ahor Kara yesterday morning. It was in April last year that I was attacked at same place, myself and my brother. The unknown gunmen shot severally at us. My brother died immediately but I sustained injuries that I am still nursing till date.
According to him, he was shell-shocked when he heard that he was involved in the killing.
The youth leader defended: “Let me say it now that I don’t know anything about the killings. Five of our brothers were shot, three died immediately while the other two are battling for their lives at a hospital. So how could I have attacked my own brothers?”
Enotiemwonmwan tasked the police, the government and other relevant authorities on the need for a thorough investigation in order to unravel the killers of his brothers.
One of the deceased relatives, Mr. Nosa Omoregie called on the government to intervene quickly in the latest killings at the community which is also called Ahor Kara.
He lamented: “It’s like now an annual thing. Last year, our Okaeghele (youth leader) and his brother were shot at that same spot. His brother died immediately while the youth leader himself is still on treatment from injuries sustained in the attack.”
Going by their modus operandi, a local vigilante, Mr. Eric Enotiemwonmwan explained that he believed that the suspected killers are professionals, noting that when he heard the echoes of the gun shots, he knew that something very serious was going on.
