Former Presidential aide, Dr. Doyin Okupe, has declared his intention to contest in the upcoming 2023 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Okupe made this declaration in a statement issued by his media office on Tuesday. The statement was titled, “2023: Doyin Okupe promises a government that prioritises the needs of the poor as he officially declares presidential ambition.”

In the statement, the former spokesperson of former President President Olusegun Obasanjo described himself as the man best fit for the highest seat in the land.

He added that he has the leadership qualities to run a government which will improve the lives of Nigerians.

Okupe who reeled out his manifesto stated that if elected, his administration will increase electricity generation to 30,000 megawatts in three years, drastically reduce youth unemployment and re-engineer, revamp the national economy.

The statement partly reads, “I believe I have the knowledge, the requisite national political experience and intellectual capacity and wisdom to halt the social and economic decadence, insecurity and pervasive poverty that has nearly made living meaningless in Nigeria.

“I want to run a government which for the first time will make the life, wellbeing and safety of lives and properties especially of the Poor and needy a major priority.”
