The Lagos State Government, on Thursday has announced that there will be a restriction of movement on Saturday, July 24, 2021 to allow for the scheduled local government elections in the state.

The Commissioner of Information, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, made this disclosure in a statement issued on Thursday.

The restriction of movement will hold between the hours of 8am to 3pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021, across the 57 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Commissioner also urged all eligible voters in the state to participate in the election and comply with the directives of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

The statement reads, “The restriction is to enable the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) conduct hitch-free elections into positions of Chairmen and Councillors in all the 57 Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas.

“The restriction will facilitate the ease of movement of the electorate, election materials and LASIEC officials for the sanctity of the election, effective monitoring and enhanced security.

“All eligible voters are urged to participate in the elections, which require the cooperation of all residents.”
