One person has died in a Sicilian town while out to celebrate Italy’s penalty shoot-out win over England in the Euro 2020 final.
A 22-year-old man died in a car crash in Caltagirone on the island of Sicily, as he was driving to the town centre to join in the festivities, local police confirmed on Monday.
There were multiple injuries across the country during the celebrations, many of which occurred in Milan.
Reuters report that in the financial capital, 15 people were hurt during post-match partying, three of whom sustained serious injuries. One person lost three fingers when a firework exploded in his hand.
Police also believe that a hitman in Foggia took advantage of the crowds of people to shoot dead a target in the middle of the town before escaping by motorbike.
