In light of extremist incidents, including armed attacks on a humanitarian convoy traveling from Bama to Maiduguri on July 29 and a suicide bombing in Maiduguri on October 12, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja reminds U.S. citizens of the serious threat of violence and kidnapping in northeastern Nigeria, particularly Borno State.  Extremists continue to conduct attacks in Borno and elsewhere in northeastern Nigeria.  U.S. citizens should avoid travel to Borno, Adamawa north of the Benue River, and Yobe States.
