It was all smiles as over 200 players from 12 grassroot teams of the Surulere Regional League in Lagos were handed COVID-19 relief package by the Nigeria Soccer Federation NSF-USA on Thursday.
The relief package which contained a sizeable food items were distributed to them by former junior international Tajudeen Disu on behalf of the Executive Chairman of Surulere Local Government Council Honorable Tajudeen Ajide.

Disu, who is Head of Sports of the local government charged the players to adopt the three Ds (Discipline, Dedication and Determination) if they want to attain great heights in the round leather game.
” I want to pour encomiums on NSF-USA for this laudable event and given hope to our grassroot players. I as a former International benefitted from so many of these kind gestures while growing up to play for the Flying Eagles.
“As young players, if you’re disciplined, dedicated and determined at what you do on and off the pitch, them the sky is your starting point to greatness.’
Nigeria Soccer Federation (NSF) which is based in Maryland, Baltimore annually celebrates Nigeria’s Independence in diaspora with a football tournament in the United States but could not hold one this year due to the novel Coronavirus outbreak.
The Federation then thought it wise to channel it funds to giving out relief package as a way of cushioning the effect of the novel Coronavirus on players in the grassroots.
