For its tenacity, strong management and strategy, support for small business and efforts to slash energy consumption, Zenith Bank was nominated among other top ranking banks as bank of the year in Nigeria by the Banker’s bank of the Year Award 2022.

This disclosure was made by the Banker magazine, Financial Times Group in the UK at the award ceremony held recently in London.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Zenith, Ebenezer Onyeagwu described the feat recorded by the bank as an attestation of the institution tenacity of purpose despite operating in an hostile environment and worsen by persistent macro economic headwinds. ” Indeed, being recognised by The Banker, the world’s largest running international banking title, is an acknowledgement of the resilience of the Zenith brand as the leading financial institution in Nigeria and the west Africa sub region,” he declared.

Onyeagwu who hailed the Bank’s founder and chairman, Jim Ovia, CFR, for his foresight, guidance and pioneering role in laying the foundation and building the structures for an enduring and successful institution, also expressed appreciation to members of the board of directors, staff for their utmost commitment and unquestionable dedication and the unflinching loyalty of the customers.

It would be recalled that barely a week ago, Zenith Bank emerged as the number one Bank in Nigeria by the Tier one Capital of the Banker. But this Banker’s bank the year Award is regarded as the industry standard for banking excellence and contested by global leading financial institutions.
