The Zamfara State House of Assembly has suspended two lawmakers for three months for allegedly aiding banditry.

The lawmakers, Hon. Yusuf Muhammad Anka and Hon. Ibrahim Tukur Bakura were alleged to have contracted the mastermind in the murder of late Muhammad Ahmad, a former Assembly member representing Shinkafi constituency through connivance with bandits.

The decision to suspend the lawmakers was reached following lead debate from Hon. Yusuf Kanoma, who represents Maru North constituency.

Kanoma alleged that the suspended lawmakers were celebrating when reports emerged that the father of the speaker was abducted. He further called on the security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation on their telephone lines and extract their conversations.

The speaker, Hon. Nasiru Magarya in his ruling directed the suspended members to appear before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges as well as the security agencies assigned to investigate them.
