The appointment of Yusuf Magaji Bichi as the new Director-General, Department of State Security Service (DSS) by President Muhammadu Buhari Thursday has elicited divergent reactions among Nigerians with many expressing their opinions on social media on the development.

Bichi, who hails from Kano, replaces Matthew Seiyeifa, who has been operating in acting capacity since Lawal Daura was sacked by the then Acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.

Condemning the President’s move, Southern, Middle-belt leaders had in a statement carpeted Buhari for dropping  Seiyefa, an indigene of Bayelsa.

In their reactions on Twitter, many lampooned the President, describing him as someone who only trusts northerners to head his security architecture, discarding their southern counterparts. While to the contrary, others stated that the new DSS DG parades certain qualities to merit the appointment.
