France on Wednesday, ended the historic feat of the first African nation to qualify for the FIFA World Cup semi-finals, as the brave Atlas Lions of Morocco’s dream where cut short at the Al Bayt stadium, Qatar.

France scored in the 5th and 79th minutes by Theo Hernandez’s strike and Randal Kolo Muani’s close-range goals which aided the 2-0 lead over Morocco after several attempts by Kylian Mbappé.

Despite support, the Atlas Lions could not find a way past France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, much to the disappointment of Morocco’s roaring fans.

The New Diplomat reports La Albiceleste sealed their place in the final, as Lionel Messi inspired them to a 3-0 win over 2018 finalists Croatia.

Both Argentina and France go into Sunday’s final, hoping to secure their country’s third World Cup win.

The first two meetings, in 1930 and 1978, came at the group stages, with Argentina coming out on top, but France’s win in Russia was their first knockout stage clash.

It would be recalled that France have played in two World Cup finals and won on both occasions, in 1998 and 2018.

Argentina have not won a World Cup in 36 years, having last lifted the trophy in 1986, and before that in 1978.
