American actor Will Smith has finally apologized to comedian Chris Rock over the slapping incident that took place at this year’s Oscars Award night.
Smith in a video he posted on his verified Instagram page, @willsmith, on Friday, revealed that he has been trying to reach Chris Rock but the comedian has refused to reply to his messages.
According to the actor, his wife Jada did not instruct him to slap Rock, and he takes full responsibility for what happened.
In his words, ‘I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk when he is, he will reach out.
‘So, I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behaviour was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.’
He also apologized to Rock’s mother and his entire family.
‘I just didn’t realize how many people got hurt at that moment, so I want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I want to apologize.’
It would be recalled that on March 27 during Oscars Award night, Will Smith got visibly upset and slapped Chris Rock onstage after the comedian made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.
The “Red Table Talk” host has previously spoken about her hair loss and alopecia.
Many believed the incident between Smith and Rock was a bit before Smith returned to his seat and started yelling profanities at Rock, who kept calm and continued to present the nominees for best documentary.
