The social media has once again been set on fire after pictures of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike went viral.

Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers state was seen in the viral picture attired in a Versace logo-Patch midi coat, with a pair of Louis Vuitton Moccasins and a Fedora Hat to match.

According to checks on the official websites of the clothing brand, a Versace logo-Patch midi coat sells for about £1,499 or about N2.9 million according to the official exchange rate as of press time.

A Louis Vuitton Mocassin sells for $980 which is N1.55 million while a Fedora Hat costs N400,000.

The total cost of the Minister’s outfit is approximately N4.85 million. The entire outfit as well as cost of Wike’s outfit has been generating massive reaction from Nigerians.

Numerous individuals have taken to their social media accounts to express their disapproval of the Minister’s unnecessary expenditure on clothes during a period when the nation is contending with severe economic challenges.

Below are some of the reactions curated from social media

“Wike wearing a VERSACE DENIM MIDI COAT worth
4,250,000 million naira.

And the masses can’t get food to eat.
No public school teacher even makes this in one year in Nigeria”(@BishopPOevang)

“Just imagine and proposing and even struggling to pay workers a 60,000 Naira monthly.

Can we ever get it right as a country ? 🤔😭”(@iamolamilekan)

“This outfit alone can pay about 141 people’s minimum wage in Nigeria at 30,000 but they’re telling you that 30,000 is all they can afford to pay meanwhile one man is wearing 141 people’s salary worth of clothes that we’ll probably never wear again!”(@Kingalexfx)

“He shd have sourced this locally. They are telling us to patronise made in naija while they buy foreign goods.”(@SakiruOyekunle)
