President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday said the All Progressives Congress, APC, will be glad to welcome the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, to its fold, stressing that such defection will make the party’s rivals ‘to writhe in pain’.

Tinubu maintained that Wike’s switching of political allegiance will be music fo his ears, adding that he’s open to receiving the minister whenever he decides to make such move.

The president spoke while inaugurating the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road One (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Road) and some other roads in Katampe District.

Tinubu said with Wike, APC “will continue to be in a joyous mood” while the party’s rivals would continue to “writhe in pain.”

Wike, who is currently serving in the Tinubu administration, is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

The minister has refused to officially dump the party for the APC despite his regular criticisms of the conduct of activities in the PDP.

The opposition PDP is enmeshed in leadership crisis which dates back to the build-up of the 2023 presidential election.
