Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has disclosed the reason he visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja, on Sunday.

Buhari had played host to Tinubu, one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), hours before he jetted out to Glasgow, Scotland for the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The APC chieftain arrived at the President’s residence at about 10.50am and left at about 12.28pm.

Speaking after the visit, Tinubu revealed that he visited the President to thank him for his support while he was receiving medical treatment in London. According to him, the Sunday’s visit was a thank-you visit.

Recall that Tinubu had embarked on a medical trip to London, United Kingdom where his right knee was operated on with treatment and physiotherapy lasting up to three months.

During his stay in London, the APC chieftain played host to several top politicians including Buhari.

On the visit, Tinubu said: “Only to thank the President, first of all, for his visit to my residence in London after the surgery and wishing me well, lifting my spirit and indeed what an exceptional leader will do to collaborate.

“So that’s what I came for and to welcome him back from the trip from Saudi.

“No politics, just courtesy call to thank him in a big way, that’s all.”

This visit is also coming days after Vice President Yemi Osinbajo held a closed-door meeting in Abuja with Tinubu.
