Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Sunday interrogated a former Senate President and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim.

It was gathered that Anyim arrived at the anti-graft’s headquarters in Jabi, Abuja at about 3:00 pm on Sunday.

Though the EFCC is yet to issue an official statement on the reason for the interrogation, sources privy to the matter said the former Senate President was invited to clarify details on alleged corruption and diversion of public funds.

The source disclosed that Anyim was grilled in connection with the fund which was traced to a company in which he was a director. The former Senate President was alleged to have conspired with former minister of Aviation, Senator Stella Oduah, to divert a total of N780 million.

It was also gathered that the interrogation of Anyim is coming days after the Pandora Papers, a fresh leak of massive financial documents by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), indicted Oduah to have secretly acquired four London properties during her time as a minister.

Oduah was alleged to have breached the public service code of conduct law, by failing to declare her assets to Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).

Recall also that Oduah was relieved of her duties as Minister of Aviation on February 12, 2014, by former President Goodluck Jonathan after she was indicted by EFCC of inflating the price of two bullet-proof cars purchased by an agency under her supervision, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

She was also alleged to have been involved in fraudulent cash transactions of about N5billion from 2011 to 2014.
