By Kolawole Ojebisi

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed why he is a force to be reckoned with in Rivers politics.

Wike ascribed his clout to his ability to build and sustain relationships with people of influence in the oil-rich state and beyond over the years.

He maintained that this trait has enriched his social capital which he leverages for political advantage over his opponents.

According to Wike, anybody who sees him would know that there is hope for Rivers State.

The minister added that he draws his strength from his circle of friends.

Wike spoke on Friday during the inauguration of the newly constructed Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road III (RR3).

He said, “They have done very well and I say God Almighty will bless them and continue to strengthen them. It is not easy.

“You see, ‘a man is strong, a man is strong’, it is because of the people surrounding him. If I had come out alone, nobody would reckon with me.

“They would look at me and say, forget him, there is no hope. I don’t think anybody will look at me and say that there is no hope for Rivers State.

“I don’t see that person and that is the truth of the matter”.
