The speaker was apprehended at the Muritala Muhammad Airport, Lagos State.

It was gathered that the speaker was picked up this morning at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, by operatives following a tip-off.

While the anti-graft agency is yet to speak on the reason for the arrest, an official who spoke with the members of the press said Oluomo was arrested over allegations bordering on financial crimes.

Oluomo and his colleagues allegedly embezzled millions of naira belonging to the Ogun State House, including forging the receipts of two filling stations, court documents filed before the Federal High Court in the state have shown.

It was gathered that the EFCC had been investigating the lawmakers over a N700 million alleged fraud.

He and some others were accused of forging signatures and financial documents of the assembly.

The documents showed that the Assembly, under the leadership of Mr Oluomo, had claimed to have spent the money on training and other “miscellaneous expenses.”

Part of the money, it was gathered, was also expended on the purchase of fuel from two fueling stations in Abeokuta.
