Professor Udenta Udenta, founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), has described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as “a structure of darkness” destined to collapse before the 2027 general election.

Speaking in an interview on ARISE TV on Tuesday, Udenta said the APC has weaponised state institutions to entrench its dominance but lacks the legitimacy to survive Nigeria’s political future.

“This is a structure of darkness. This is a structure that will collapse on its own,” he declared.

He accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of acting as an extension of the ruling party’s machinery, legitimising “electoral robbery and violence,” while alleging that the judiciary has also been compromised.

Udenta warned that 2027 would be a turning point, especially if former President Goodluck Jonathan enters the race.

“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests that election,” he said.

The political analyst urged the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) to unite against the APC, cautioning that failure to do so would plunge the country deeper into crisis.

“What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion and collapse legitimacy. If PDP and Labour Party do not come together, the APC will destroy this country beyond recognition.”

He maintained that Nigerians, increasingly becoming disillusioned with the federal government, are waiting for a credible alternative.

“2027 is not just another election. It is the soul of the country that will be contested,” Udenta added.

Udenta had earlier described discussions about Tinubu’s 2027 running mate as a humiliation of Vice President Kashim Shettima. He argued that early endorsements of Tinubu while keeping Shettima’s role uncertain reflect deep internal contradictions within the APC.
