The presidency has disclosed the subject of discussion in a meeting held on Thursday in Paris between President Bola Tinubu and Massad Boulos, a Senior Advisor for Africa to United States President, Donald Trump.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the Paris meeting was to explore deeper economic and security partnerships between Nigeria and the United States.

The statement added that the meeting particularly focused on expanding American investments in Nigeria and Africa, supporting energy and infrastructure development, and aligning trade and job creation efforts with Nigeria’s national goals.

“The US State Department rep conveyed President Trump’s strong interest in deepening direct engagement with Nigeria as a cornerstone of US relations with Africa.

“The US wanted to work closely with President Tinubu to expand American investment in Nigeria and Africa, support energy and infrastructure development, and align trade and job creation efforts,” the statement read.

Onanuga further revealed that both parties also exchanged views on regional peace and security, with particular attention to the crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and instability across the Sahel region.

The statement emphasized that Boulos acknowledged Nigeria’s role as a regional and continental leader, commending Tinubu’s ongoing efforts to stabilise key areas in Africa.

“President Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s readiness to build productive alliances with the United States, centred on transparency, opportunity, mutual respect and outcomes that strengthen Africa’s place in the global economy,” the statement concluded.
